Employment Type:
Full Time
Role:
Veterinary Surgeon
Required Experience:
Graduate

An exciting opportunity for a new graduate vet to join our team of three vets, including one certificate holder, supported by a ATT/Trainee Veterinary Technicians and dedicated administration staff. The practice has two offices (Leominster and Ludlow), including in house examination facilities, and our area of cover is restricted to within forty minutes of a central point, to allow case continuity and avoid long hours spent driving between calls.

We established our practice two years ago after negotiating the farm side out from a long-established mixed practice, so we have a loyal client base along with additional new clients joining as our local reputation builds. Our work covers a good range of farm types from smaller family farms to large estates and dedicated commercial enterprises covering dairy, (multiple grass based NZ systems) sheep flocks, suckler herds, and small holders. We pride ourselves in building strong relationships with our clients, enabling progression within their businesses, whilst maintaining friendly professional relationships.

A good work life balance is important, so our office closes daily at 3.30pm and no routine calls are scheduled after this time, allowing plenty of time to focus on other areas of your life outside work or just enjoy the beautiful countryside around us. During the working day, we are in frequent communication and invest in the concept of remote working to allow for efficiency and minimise admin time. We are a small friendly team, all involved in the local farming community, and we regularly hold social events for all staff. As part of the XLVets community, we engage in the multiple areas of support and learning opportunities that this offers.

We are looking for a vet to join us who is enthusiastic, proactive, friendly and a team player. As a relatively new business, we would welcome someone who is keen to implement new ideas to allow us to offer more services to our clients. We are flexible to consider both full or part time applicants.

We will provide further support by enrolling you in the XLVets Farm Graduate Programme and plan to initially not include you on the on call rota so you can settle into working life and still be able to have weekends free. Followed by a work buddy system with the on call vet, where you can gain further experience attending emergency calls fully supported until sufficiently confident.

The details of the role are as follows:

  • Either part or full time based on a five-day week 8.30am to 3.30pm
  • Equally shared on call rota
  • A day off in leu following a weekend on call
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays
  • VDS, RCVS and membership to two societies funded
  • Annual CPD funding up to £1,500
  • Support given to those considering further qualifications
  • Salary discussed on application

To apply for this role, please send a covering letter and CV to linda@marchesfarmvets.co.ukApplications close on Friday 16th August.
