News - Over 60 independent practices now benefit from XLVets community as Wallace Vets joins the membership
A decade since acquiring Wallace Vets, vet and owner, Niall Morton, has solidified the practice's independent status by becoming the latest member of XLVets, taking the number of member practices above 60. This membership marks a significant step forward in the practice’s yearlong strategic initiative "Wallace Together". The initiative, derived during a full team workshop has commenced with its primary goal being to foster ongoing growth and development.
The decision to join XLVets came about after Niall spoke with the group at SPVS earlier this year, “I always thought XLVets was a corporate for large animal practices” laughs Niall, “So I was thrilled to find out that neither of these preconceptions were true. Once I realised what the community stood for and had to offer, it was an easy decision. Their ethos matches our own and we are already making good use of the community and CPD.”
Niall continues, “We are a forward-thinking, vibrant practice and it made natural sense to me to seek the thoughts and ambitions of my team when planning our long-term goals. We all collaborated to ensure our core values are being met as we have big plans to grow our modern and sustainable business. Maintaining our family feel while we grow is very important to us all, there is no hierarchy - this is a journey of the entire team.”
The “Wallace Together” workshop gave all team members a platform to contribute their own ideas regarding the future direction of the practice. Along with joining XLVets this includes improving sustainability initiatives and encouraging individual clinical development.
Wallace Vets has three branches in Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie, and Arbroath, thirteen vets, and dedicates significant resources to upskilling and supporting their team. They look forward to the learning opportunities within the XLVets membership and have already taken part in a small animal team meeting in Birmingham.
XLVets CEO, Andrew Curwen, comments “We are delighted Wallace Vets have joined our community. We are confident that as well as receiving support, they will offer new thinking and ideas to our existing member practices. Their culture is one to be admired - clinical aspirations are encouraged and there are dedicated mental health strategies in place. They are clearly committed to delivering a very valuable community-based service to their clients by providing a sustainable and healthy workplace for the future.”
Ambitious independent practices are encouraged to contact XLVets to discover how the community and associated benefits can help advance their practice. More information can be found at https://www.xlvets.co.uk/the-boss/.
